Rain Dance, inspired by Tish Farrell's story, "The Hare Who Would Not Be King," was written by Stuart Hancock (music) and Donald Sturrock (libretto). It is the tale of animals on the South African savannah facing a drought, the Machiavellian lion whom they elect to lead them, and their unlikely hero, a brilliant but neurotic and politically apathetic rabbit.

Read the synopsis and hear demo recordings, and watch videos of NCFO's 2014 performances of Rain Dance.

Everyone age 7 or older who wants to perform will be accepted (children under 10 require a participating adult), but we need to hear you sing for casting and voice part assignments. See our auditions page for details.

Meanwhile, sign up on our mailing list, and email info23@familyopera.org if you have questions.

Rain Dance was commissioned by the W11 Opera for Young People and first performed by them in December 2010.
